Why do you have two different colors of bookcases, and why are they spaced so inconsistently?
>>8606853
I got the black one later
they're against a corner cant you see that
>>8606886
>>8606895
None of them are cornered though. Why do you have that huge space there if you aren't going to corner another shelf in it? And what's with the gap between the one birch one and the black one?
I read that faeries book when I was a kid :3
You need some more works on aesthetics anon because this looks like shit.
>>8606929
I'd like some more classics, but never know what to pick or what translation
So you have a lot of trash? Stop trying to get the approval of internet strangers.
>>8607096
>trash
oh you
who the fuck are you
>tfw getting new shelf later this week so can finally reorganize instead of just piling shit sideways
can't wait desu
>>8606895
>"can't you see that?"
>giant corner gap
>>8607132
what's the moonspeak collection?
>>8607132
planning to read under the volcano myself soon. what did you think of it?
>>8607132
Nice shelf. Do you hate Penguins or something?
Pleb incoming.
>>8607479
>Odyssey and Iliad in hardcover.
I like it.
>>8607479
That's a very 90s selection. Where's William Gibson??
Cyberpunk-wise you're also missing Nylund's Signal to Noise. There should be Hyperion in there too. If you want to branch out, try Cormac McCathy's other stuff like Blood Meridian, and expand your Greeks with Xenophon's Anabasis.
>>8607132
I've seen this guy's shelf a dozen times. He's got to be the biggest meme on this board with a full shelf of Dante translations. A bunch of weebshit, and of course bottoms dream and P&V translations of dostoevsky.
Awful.
>>8607520
Gibson is there, same with hyperion. I've been looking for blood meridian but have yet to find it at the book store. Might resort to an online puchase. Waiting for the histories to come in the mail which is my next step in the greeks. I will look into xenophon. Thanks.

>Pleb
I disagree. This looks like a shelf of a reader who is honest. You actually enjoy reading, and have your own taste but at the same time I can tell that you also challenge yourself. I admire this shelf so much more than all the memefags on here
>>8607536
No worries.
A word of warning about McCarthy, though. His style isn't straightforward at all. The Road and No Country For Old Men are exceptions. But I hope you dig it. Surely there's a 1 buck copy out there on AbeBooks.
Also, the Anabasis really kicks ass. Look into the Hardcore History podcast for insight into ancient military history.
>>8607538
Totally.
Among the books I noticed the Greeks, Jules Verne, McCarthy, etc. That denotes an open mind.
I'd rather walk into that shelf rather than one full of unread shitty classics, or worse, Dianetics.
>>8607132
Lol at that giant bottom's dream shoved in the corner
Anyone want to see a photograph of my Johnson?
>>8606819
that sure is a lot of genre pulp with a handful of obvious classics sprinkled in anachronistically.
My grandpa bought me a few books.
Are these worth reading at all?
Slaughterhouse5, The Hobbit (Seen the movie)
The witcher Last wish
>>8606819
good to see you didn't leave the vacuum in the picture this time
>>8608311
By lit standards they're pretty poor, with people pretty split on whether Slaughterhouse 5 is a masterpiece or trash, but I can say myself that the Hobbit book is infinitely better than the padded and dragged out movie trilogy
>>8608311
The last wish gives some interesting background, but be prepared for an episodic format.
>>8607132
>all those uncracked spines

>#1 best seller
They're not. Thanks though for repeating the old line about popular =/= good.
Your complaint is so so generalised and vague it could almost be you didn't even look at them.
>self help books
I don't have any.
>>8607976
>genre pulp
Such as?
>obvious classics
Feel free to suggest more
>>8607479

>>8608311

>>8608548
The best part is i bought it used.
>>8608559
Maybe the same thing happens with it as with Hubbard books and books by rightwing punditoids like O'Reilly and Beck and etc: they are bulk purchased to push it to the top of the best sellers and then nobody collects the order from the bookshop so the shop sends it back to the book seller who then remainders it.
I've seen so many mint condition Hubbard books in secondhand bookshops with the remainder mark on them.
According to David Brock the punditoids books get resold for a couple bucks at rallys and conventions.
