Shouldn't the integral equal ln(cabin) + C?

it's just convention desu

"log" can mean "natural log" sometimes.
>>
>>8599462
If it's obvious the log is natural log, then its normal to just write log

ln is just log base e
>>
>>8599462
log is natural log by default unless otherwise specified
>>

By some conventions log is base 10, hence the question.
>>
>>8600906
Only a few weird mathematicians think that. For people doing real work, "log" is base 10, and "ln" is base e.

"log" always refers to the natural logarithm in any adult pure mathematical discourse.

Despite saying this and knowing so, and despite being trained in pure math myself before anything else, I personally and honestly prefer the ln notation for the natural logarithm. It is more compact, and is a singular notation associated with logarithms which is less easily confused with log_10, log_etc, etc. It does also have the advantage that it is used more in the physical sciences above the high-school level, and so there is a certain common understanding about exactly what "ln" is supposed to denote, but it is only when we invoke "log" that the possibility of confusion is usually introduced.

Shut the fuck up

Log_10 is used all the time in electronics, broadcasting, media production etc.
Log_2 is used all the time in computer programming.
I can't remember the last time I used log_e. Probably the finance types use it, but that's almost as far from "real work" as pure math.

Shut the fuck up you retarded nigger.
Any natural science(physics, chemistry, biology) uses natural log.

God forbid a code monkey needs to integrate 1/x
