What are your views of this book?
Is it worth reading the English translation, even if a lot of Rio slang and Brazilian geography & cultural references go over my head?

Assuming that you are a burger or from another first world country, it is nothing different from other novels that touch on the subject of poverty, crime and violence in urban third world countries.

If by any chance you are interested in Brazilian favela culture, you need to read it in Portuguese to grasp slang and other cultural elements.

So no, I would not recommend it to you.
