It was later in his life, in his preface to Paradise Lost where he trashes rhyming. There are no rhymes in PL. so he was right later in life

Rhyming is the easiest shit in the world. Writes itself. Oddly though, there have been like fifteen poets in history to make it seem anything other than silly.
