Have any of you read anything by Du Gard? My local bookstores recommend him, but i'm hesistant to spend 30euros on huge books by writers i've never heard about on /lit/.

Has anyone heard of this guy?
My bookstore had this on display with a card saying "Read and Approved, a new face of American literature, for fans of DFW and Pynchon".
I was honestly suprised my bookstore-guy even knew Pynchon and DFW, since this is Belgium.Needless tot say it got me interested.

Reading it out loud can be pretty fun.

No but I have a copy. White Nosie has turned me off Delillo for a while.

Reading it right now, about 1/4 through. Very good, but very difficult. The bits that I do understand (like maybe 2 pages out of 150 so far) makes me despair at what I'm missing on every other page.
Fun wordplay.
Not -totally- incomprehensible, just mostly. The cyclical/repetitive nature means you start discerning patterns.

I'm reading it slowly. Like random pages at a time, skipping around, etc. A "full" read through is going to be a constantly ongoing process that will last quite some time. It's puzzling.

I'm wondering about this too. The preview on Amazon seemed pretty good and I've heard a lot of people recommend it, but whenever a writer is compared to DFW, it's always trash

Amazing book, highly recommended especially if you're interested in the JFK assassination. It's a lot more accessible than DeLillo's other books since it reads like a thriller/spy novel but is still able to make sweeping points about our perception of history, how we make choices in our lives, the effect of secret agencies on our lives, etc. Fun and intellectual at the same time.
