>try to enjoy Vonnegut
>not enough of a redditor to do so
More like Vonneschlecht, am I right guys?
>>8582274
go away
>>8582274
that's actually clever
I'm not American so I wasn't familiar with him at all until I started seeing cringeworthy worship of the dude from john Green types on the internet, is he good?
>>8582434
No, he's a mediocrity at best.
>>8582434
he's alright honestly.
>>8582434
His fanbase is annoying, but I quite enjoy some of his books
>>8582434
his prose is good, but his constant attempts to be clever make him reddit-tier
>>8582945
lel, you described pynchon, one of the most dicksucked here
>>8582955
Pynchon actually has substance
>>8582955
I believe the difference is that vonnegut is clever for high school kids, pynchon for college kids, which is the best /lit/ can do
still better than 98% of the internet

Timequake was good. So was Sirens of Titan. I regretted reading Dead Eye Dick and the short story collection about Jack Kevorkian.
My aunt who has her Ph.D. in Literature asked me what I was reading one summer a few years back, I mentioned that I was working my way through several of his novels, there was a long break of silence, and the conversation died shortly after.
I read all his shit and enjoyed it for the most part, but I pretend my lit level surpasses him
>>8582434
His fanbase is annoying but Slaughterhouse and Breakfast of Champions are good. He is nowhere near John Meme levels of bad

>aunt who has her Ph.D. in Literature
my condolences to her
