Ethnographical books and exotic romances are largely responsible for the change in view that took place in The West regarding the proper treatment of indigenous cultures - as something valuable to be preserved rather than a nuisance obstructing the extraction of natural resources.
Don't make halfwit comments like that hoping to get a rise out of somebody, it's gauche.

Well which are they? Do they cash in on native suffering? Do they show us something about their way of life?
I'd love to read a book on natives.

Aboriginal folklore and mythology is pretty spoopy sometimes but it doesn't grab me like Euroshit does. I find they have a need to explain everything, every mystery has the mystery taken out. I get that it shouldn't be looked at like that, but it's like these people had nothing to fear for 40K years or something.
Other Abo stuff seems really quaint, their cinema has been on point lately though.
