Literally never got through the first chapter of Moby Dick. It's too verbose and long-winded. "You could say I was feeling hungry, nay rather desiring, though perhaps it'd be better described as a certain, peculiar craving for the desires of the stomach, "the tummy" as I'd rather have it expressed." This is how I remember lines from that awful book.

The thing about Kurtz is that with only empty words he was capable of establishing a cult and scaring the shit out of Marlow; yet even a man like that died like any other. Civilization is no different: like Kurtz's Intended they delude themselves into thinking they are meant for something great and so they trample on whatever comes under their feet for their love of ideas.

At the end of the day all the "development" the empire makes is only used to extract a pile of elephant teeth and crush whoever's in the way. If you're scared by Kurtz last words you have been memed and that's exactly what the book tries to convey.
