I learned english through vidya and movies/tv shows with subtitles in my main language, so i guess that's the way to go.

German with German, others are useless. Alternatively if you want a method like this that's actually one of the most efficient ways to learn a language look up the L-R method

Different person here, but I was reading about L-R and it seems like everyone talking about it says something like "you can learn any language in a week with just 10 hours a day." If I don't have 10 hours a day (and maybe not even one hour a day) is it still better than other language learning techniques?
Isn't it difficult to stay lined up with what you're hearing and what you're reading? I feel like I would fall out of sync a lot.

Sorry if dumb questions. I have never been very good at language learning. But I want to improve.

You won't get fluent by sitting in your room and tryin your best but you can absolutely definitley get to a stage where you can get by in the country (understand more than 50% of what natives say to you and respond with OK grammar, and a reasonable knowledge of vocabulary) and from that point you can get fluent no problem.

The best practice you can possibly get is talking with people who speak the language. Fuck talking to other learners at your level because you can hardly improve off of them. Do your best at home and then go somewhere where they speak the language for a week and don't let yourself speak English


Last bit of advice is don't allow yourself to forget any vocab

I think it only helps if you already know the basics.

I'm a BR, so I know the basics of most Latin languages already. I am learning Italian and French through osmosis. I can read non-fiction in Italian pretty well, already, and my French is much better than it was six months ago. Io penso che io già sono capace di parlare con un italiano senza gran difficoltà, mais je ne pense pas que je sui capable di parlez avec un homme française parce que (is this how you say because?) la langue francaise est plus difficile que la lingua italiana. I never had any lessons whatsoever in any of those languages, so I feel satisfied with my progress.

False. I am fluent in English without ever having to go out of my bedroom. When I first met English people I was already fully prepared, and I even received praise on my English, because, unlike most Brazilian's, it's actually good.

Learning through osmosis is actually a great technique, but one has to be in contact with the language for a few hours every single day. Songs, movies, books, TV shows, and even videogames can be great help. Copying books is a good way to both improve your literary writing and also to consolidate the words in your memory.
