please do not buy from them. let them die. they are a horrible company that sells more coloring books and toys than they do literary fiction.

I work there. I spend literally 30-40% of my time tracking down obscure romance novels for middle-aged women
>>
>>8510188
That's where the profit is, can't you see? Don't blame them, people just don't read anymore.
>>
>>8510365
Once those women die off, and everyone really starts doing Christmas shopping online, who do you think will spend the most money at B&N?
>>
>>8510365

actually that sounds perfectly nice and comfy.

The romance aisle is an abstraction. It's there, in a general bookstore. I am vaguely aware that it exists. Sometimes I even walk down it, like the "pink" girls' aisle in a toy store, or the toy department.

The porn aisle, as it were.

people do like to go there to hang out

Adult coloring books.

You seem to have the mistaken belief that so long as there is a human society of any volume and diversity (using the word in its neutral sense, and not in some progressive sense) that is actually worth living in, that at some point there may cease to be middle-aged women living vicarious quiet desperation through romance lit.

A coffee, a brownie, and use their wifi to dl books from libgen. Then walk out and go to a used books store for anything you couldn't pull up from libgen.
>>
>>8510897
I'm actually serious about that, BN is such a ripoff. The only reason to go there is to pull something off the shelf, stay for a few hours and read their books for free. You should also use their wifi to buy used books on Amazon.
>>
Does anyone else think Barnes & Nobles are comfy as fuck? I just haven't had a reason to go there in about ten years after I started using amazon for better prices and ereaders for free books.
>>
>>8510982
Not since they started playing generic hipster/pop music so loudly that I can't focus on reading.
