Anything modern, I'd say 1970's+, is fine. But if you only have access to really old translations, like Garnett, they're all still worth reading.

Gogol and Pushkin. if you want to keep reading Dostoevsky, read Crime and Punishment. avoid Pevear and Volokhonsky translations because they're trash.
