Absolutely. Scarlet Letter and Seven Gables are great.

But his short stories are even better than his novels imo. The Birthmark and Wives of the Dead are both fucking amazing.

I got Mosses from an Old Manse at the library and besides the prologue about the Manse I was extremely disappointed. They were all really allegorical and written in a fairly dry, simple style. I didn't even finish it.

Are all of his short stories like that? I loved Scarlet Letter and Seven Gables.

You probably wouldn't like his other short stories . Wives of the Dead is worth reading though. It's super short. It could be considered a bit gimmicky for lack of a better word. But I love it.
