Both Iggy Pop and Patti Smith saw him and we're inspired to create. Not because what he was doing was amazing but because they realized you can be as drunk and stupid as you want and still perform.

Jim Morrison was a drunk masquerading as a poet. His legacy comes from the acts he inspired; not because he was an exceptional artist but because he proved you can be untalented, loaded, and bait your crowds into violence as a performer.
