Weigh in lit, is he any good? I am about to start Steppenwolf.
one of the GOATs but underage pseuds will shit on him because they've only read the wikipedia summary of siddhartha
I read Siddhartha when I was a senior in high school and thought it was pretty good then. I'm not sure how accurate it is when it comes to eastern spirituality though.

I read it, but it didn't seem that profound to me. What did I miss?

there you go, newfriend
I read Siddhartha last week. I didn't find it to be as profound as some people claim it is. I would recommend reading it at some point in your future.
I've only read Demian and was left a bit disappointed by the end.
The philosophy he develops through his works is only complicated because it's not very well explained

Siddharta is not meant to embody eastern religion - its meant to embody Hesses personal solutions to its problems. Thus Siddharta declines to join the path of the Buddha or of the Brahmin priest or the aesthetic etc
I like him. Siddhartha, steppenwolf. All good
