why is poetry so much better than prose?

I remember Pessoa saying that prose was the superior art because the writer is able to give a rhythm when he need it, but on poetry the rhythm was a necessity and most importantly an obstacle.

Poetry shows us what language is able to do

However, I don't think it's better than prose

Good poetry is better than good prose but bad poetry is worse than bad prose.
