Is self publishing worth it in 2016?
...worth what?
Depends on what you want to do. Actually, I wanted to make my own thread on self-publishing but I may as well ask here.
Any anons here self-publish? How was it? What sites would you recommend?

you know the effort versus traditional publishing.

not really about effort. if you can get a real publisher, for sure go with that. if you can't, then maybe sel-publish, i don't know, but don't expect results. success stories are few, especially if you don't already have a following.

I self-publish my writing pretty regularly on 4chan.
Not the OP, but I also had similar questions.
Is it more viable profit-wise to to self publish a bunch of shitty 20 page 'short reads' erotica, or putting effort into a novel and hoping people buy it/give it good reviews?
Is kindle the way to go? KDP Select?
Or is it more viable to self publish on like 20 sites?
Any information on self publishing is appreciated. Here's a meme picture for your efforts.

I might be mistaken here, so take everythi g I say with a grain of salt.
It used to be that you could churn out those little erotica books about gay billionaire dinos and make bank (I'm talking from $500 to $1500 a month), but Amazon changed the payout so it has to do with how many pages a reader reads or something like that. Now, the best way to earn capital through writing would be to create a "page-turner" that gets the audience slamming through the pages, always wantimg to know what happens next until the end. With that said, a short story would still probably be the best approach, if only because they can hold readers' attention longer, and are less likely to get shoved in some backlog, compared to, say, a 500 page epic.

I say go for it if it is something that will help free peoples minds. As for profit idk

how much would a 50 pages story cost?

Thank you for your reply, anon.
Is self-publishing okay for more personal ventures? I just want to write as sincere as I can, and be happy that I've written books, building my discipline and being happy with what little it earns me on the side.

more than it used to be at least
