Those are more intermediate texts. Start with children's lit, sci-fi/fantasy. Your vocabulary is probably terrible, and your reading comprehension worse. Reading is a skill, but it's taken for granted because most people can get by, and even do quite well, without developing anything more than a basic ability to read and write.
