What do you guys think about Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton?

As far as I can tell, the book is just the authoress' revenge fantasy bc she was bitter her husband cheated on her. Yes there are some commentaries on muh societal norms restricting happiness, but that was basically it on anything even approaching novel

We had to read this and The Awakening by Kate Chopin in an advanced lit class I took in highschool. The Awakening was better I thought.

I read it in highschool too and liked it. It had a nice atmosphere and mood. I thought it was supposed to be about the tragedy of a common man
