>the introduction is the author discrediting his own work
>>8424042
Oh yeah, I hate when books are introduced in the introduction.
>>8424065
You are truly retarded.
>The introduction is the author praising his own work
>>8424076
Green text was so faint at the distance I read it at, that I thought it said "describing"
Seriously? What books have this? Never mind.
It's a shit thread anyway

>introductions in anything but non-fiction
>>8424155
>non fiction
>>8424042
Only Nietzsche did this well with Birth of Tragedy, describing the book's flaws as a product of his youth but still appreciating what value it held.
Made me like him quite a bit despite an aversion to the rest of his work.

Like Harlan Ellison?
>>8424585
Unca Harlan just knows that his own persona is just as much what people buy his books for as the stories themselves. I doubt he would parade his stories in his introductions like he does if that wasn't the case.

I do this
>>8424042
>introduction does a good job of providing the historical context of the work and adds lots of cool details about the author and book.
>>8424620
this
>author dedicates the book to his mum
>>8424779
>philosopher dedicates the work to his mom
>it becomes highly influential
