What should I read before reading Heidegger's Being and Time?

All memes aside, the Greeks. Particularly the Pre-Socratics. Also Kant, Hegel, general phenomenology. Seriously, just fucking go through chronologically. Will you end up understanding Heidegger? Probably not, but hey! You've got 2,000 years of thought under your belt.

For the record, I've read a majority of the "required" reading for Being and Time and I stopped pretty early on because it was borderline insufferable - this is from someone who enjoys Phenomenology of Spirit and Foucault.

Phenom. of Spirit gets a bad rap. It's difficult, but manageable. But I found my self absolutely frazzled by Being and Time. Don.t know what to tell you other than slog through it. Secondary literature perhaps? Dreyfus is apparently one of the top authorities on H.
