Why is this book such a slow read
I put it down, it makes no sense and it's one of those books that tires me out after a single page.

I understand it but it's just incredibly difficult to read
Like heart of darkness

Thats the point surely? I read it to have read it but i wouldnt again desu

It's a slog for sure.
skip the parts where he talks about the history book he's writing. they're completely unnecessary.
Towards the end there's a huge character resolution that the whole book is building up to. Similar to The Stranger I guess you could say.
Nausea has its moments, but Age of Reason is better Sartre for sure.

Maybe you're all reading a bad translation? Giving you the benefit of the doubt here

I read a little of the Lloyd Alexander translation and it was very difficult.

Seriously, the prose is fairly succinct and clear. God forbid any one of you reads the meme trilogy

No, it's not.

I've read Ulysses and infinite jest and both were far easier
Maybe it's the fact that I've been in a car for the past six hours and that makes me nauseous
Op btw

Okay, I guess it isn't. My mistake anon.
