Essential Rumi is garbage. Coleman Barks doesn't read or speak a work of Persian and just reworked a literal translation into a breezy coffee table read for new-age spiritualist. Real Rumi isn't so simple, writes in a meter, and is super Islamic.

Mr Barks went to a lot of trouble translating Rumi and putting it in a good order, just read your book from the start and ignore >>8408459 who is a pretentious CUNT.

Basically this. Barks doesn't even include Rumi's actually essential poems in the collection. This particular edition is plainly a fan fiction, look for a better translator.
