o/ /lit/ I'm here to promote my Discord Writing Group \ Server.

We're an active group of about 30+ but are looking for more users to join as we may trim off the ones who have never had activity after joining.

We support all types of writing and actively read and assist other's work. Thus far it has been a respectful and well-rounded community and we hope to have more of the same pleasant experiences with new users.

Here is the Discord link for those interested: https://discord.gg/rRH8v

>Discord Writing Group

It starts with
One thing I don't know why
It doesn’t even matter how hard you try
Keep that in mind, I designed this rhyme
To explain in due time
All I know
Time is a valuable thing
Watch it fly by as the pendulum swings
Watch it count down to the end of the day
The clock ticks life away
It’s so unreal
Didn’t look out below
Watch the time go right out the window
Trying to hold on but didn’t even know
I wasted it all just to watch you go

I kept everything inside and even though I tried, it all fell apart
What it meant to me will eventually be a memory of a time when

ye
>>
I was lurking for some days but the group is literally genre fiction garbage.
>>
>>8393467
You mean, people actually discuss books and don't bother pretending.
>>
>>8393467
Of the people I've seen post their writing in the group, half were writing genre fiction and half writing literature. Seems reasonable to me.
>>
>>8393467

> Pretending his tastes make him better than other people.
>>
>>8393519
>>8393986
>>8394378
Fuck off, (((((generic genre fiction writer)))))
>>
>>8394396

Mhmm. You're so better just tell us how better you are just because you have different tastes.
>>
>>8394400
No, I'm better because I don't spend my time reading the same shitty concept over and over during years.
>>
>>8394407

> Personality so pathetic they think that having different tastes makes them better
>>
>>8394415
>my taste isn't shit, it's just different ;_;
>>
>>8394407
What is it anon? Daddy wasn't proud of you so you have to prove yourself to strangers in a bhutanese potting forum?
>>
>>8394438
Stop deluding yourself into thinking that anon is trolling you because 'he doesn't share muh pleb tastes'.
Your taste is shit, and you should feel ashamed of it. You should try to improve your tastes, literature isn't a mean of escapism, but one of the highest forms of art created by man, and you are shitting on literally every great writer when you defend generic fantasy.
>>
>>8394462
>tfw there are quite a few SFF authors, past and present, who are/were more educated and well-read than you, and could out-write you any day of your life

I dont know where you idiots come from but damn /lit/ is a mess when they don't even understand this.
>>
>>8394474

Not worth our time. People will find anything to feel superior over, even something as simple as liking something else.
>>
>SFF and genre are shit-tier escapism
Who are Washington Irving? Erckmann-Chatrian? Leonid Endreyev? Tommaso Landolfo? Ivan Turgenev? Robert Chambers? Théophile Gautier? Herman Melville? Giovani Boccacio? Jules Verne? Alexander Pushkin? Gustave Flaubert? Gustav Meyrink? Just because you're completely uneducated doesn't mean your shallow opinion is worth posting here.
>>
>>8395144

Lets not forget the prevalence of fiction writers throughout all of history even before that. Fiction is something we've been writing for centuries. But nah "hurdur its bad because I'm smurt"
>>
what percentage of it is poetry? i usually demand the poets join all their lines together to make a couple of paragraphs, they get butthurt and demand i leave.
>>
>>8395554
Not that many poets but a couple have asked about it, you're more than welcome to drop by
>>

The invite expired

Also, any general rules or topics you guys discuss? I assume you don't just randomly toss up google docs between each other.
>>
>>8395885
https://discord.gg/W4ezz

There are no rules except common politeness. There are dedicated rooms so it isn't a mess.
>>
>>8392215
As someone who is new to writing, what can I expect from a writing group?
>>
>>8396644
Someone else to publish your work.
>>
>>8396750

If you believe that then you're pretty paranoid.
>>
>>8396644
Constant feedback as you're writing up your story, various advices, reliable readers who can point you out relevant references and a slight eventuality to get published.
>>
>discord
>writing group

someone's going to make a porn channel and a general channel and those are the only ones that will be used
>>
>>8396806

The admins and mods don't do that. And if someone tried, they'd be warned and then kicked if continued.

Is writing in Spanish tolerated?
>>
>>8396829
This, sorta, I'm an avid writer and reviewer but I type my stories and replies entirely in microsoft wingdings.
>>
>>8396838
The thing is that I can read others in English and give my take; but I write in Spanish, so I don't know. I don't mind that only a couple of people are able to read me and opine.
>>
>>8396829

We wouldn't push you away, but the issue is that you'd basically have no one to review your work.
>>
>>8396850
Are you certain that there are no Spanish speakers in the group?
>>
>>8396851

Let me ask and get back to you, also note that not everyone is online right now.
>>
>>8396867
Wonderful.
>>
>>8396872

It seems we have 2 at most. One is new and the other hasn't been active. So a heads up for you.
