I don't understand if that's praise or not

That's great. Can you explain why?
I'm a few chapters in, and I enjoy it so far.

i refuse to buy this book with this cover. fucking hideous

I thought it would be tragically hip '80s claptrap, but instead it was a thoughtful book about growing up, moving on and letting go.
I enjoyed it. Ellis isn't an amazing talent but he does very well with what he can do. American Psycho is more popular, but I much prefer Less Than Zero. In AP he tried to do something experimental and it worked decently, but LTZ is much more consistent, if less exciting.

i lived in the greater la area in my teen years, so i feel like i have better appreciation for the aesthetic portrayed by ellis. i also love his style of normalizing shocking moments, you'll see later. also i like clay, i relate to him.
i dont read a ton of books and most people are going to think my opinion is shit and i wish i cared less about it but whatever
one week it's shit. one week it's good. one month he's a hack. jesus christ make up your minds.

bret pls
I prefer Rules of Attraction. Both books are pretty minimalist, but LTZ felt very slow and lifeless to me. ROA was more entertaining with its multiple character POV's, plus I can relate to its setting much more since I also go to a preppy art school.

Young fucked up characters who never develop. In LA.
I liked it.
Clay's constant monotonous feeling voice doesn't sit well with me, but it really shows and much the city has damaged him psychologically. It's a pretty easy read. I read this over the course when I was in 8th grade in math class.

His undisputed masterpiece was "American Psycho".

Why the hell is BEE's name 100 times bigger than the actual title what the fuck

I just disputed it.
A bunch of aimlessly arranged shock scenes that surprisingly holds up. A solid 3/5.
