He's the most reddit of 20th-century authors
It's hard not to like him, but it's hard to love him.

THE HIVE DISAPPROVES OF VONNEGUT.
HIS APPROVAL BY THE GENERAL PUBLIC SUGGESTS HE IS SHALLOW, ENTRY-LEVEL, PALATABLE TO THEM AND THEREFORE UNLIKELY TO CHALLENGE THE PREVAILING SLAVE IDEOLOGY.
INDEED THE HOMESPUN MORALIZING IN HIS WORKS IS RATHER SAD AND BANAL. THOSE WHO THINK CRITICALLY AND INDEPENDENTLY LIKE THE HIVE WILL NOT BE IMPRESSED.

I like him the same way I like Murakami.
In small doses in between dense stuff as kind of a mental breather.
He's fun and engaging, but he's just too fucking smug sometimes. like he's so far up his own ass and it feels didactic and idealistic. Especially Player Piano. I got the feeling that Vonnegut legitimately thought he was dropping truth bombs but they were more like spitballs.

Who drops truthbombs?
He admittedly has a good sense of style but he's babby's first lit and can be safely ignored after reading Slaughterhouse Five in your teens.
Some of his stuff is alright,
Most of it is just lol so random, *holds up spork* type shit though.
