I'm reading the count of monte Cristo and I like it desu senpai. It's been some time since I've read something with a light storybook feel.

His grandmother was a Haitian slave

1/4 i believe so no
His black father was some kind of high ranking officer tho pretty cool guy
Havent read monte cristo cause i heard its a shallow adventure story from a few people but my mulatto friend raves about it. He has good taste Joyce is his favorite author but i have a feeling he likes the book as much as he does because he read it when he was young and was looking for a mixed figure in the literary canon to admire
Mike Tyson is a big fan, I believe. Therefore he's patrician.

Shallow How? Does this come from the pretentious type who always want an obscure undertone/analogy to a book?
>>8379230
I guess it depends what you mean. If wanting a book to have some sort of meaning beyond literal plot action makes me that pretentious type, sure. It's just a very long book and there is plenty of other better stuff to read (not too say it's bad at all), it's not that I'm better than reading a simple adventure story, I'd probably enjoy it if I read it, which i might just to discuss with this friend
god tier hair

Don't get me wrong though, I do enjoy books that make me think but a good book could also be entertaining.

Authentic patricians are not afraid of liking books that turbo-plebs resent because they seem "too easy" or "too fun."
Dumas is great and Joyce read a lot of sentimental soapy romance novels for women and unironically thought they were great (see: Nausicaa in Ulysses).

He was black, you know
