Should I read this?
STGSTV is a great album
Demian is ok, kind of chessy
Yes! Reading one book may give you insight to others you read later on. You might pick something up from the book that was referenced in another book that you read earlier.
Reading a book you haven't read before is always a good idea, even if it doesn't feel like it at the time.

How will you know what material is bad if you haven't read anything? You're going to take advice from some crumbposter off a polynesian recipe board?
That being said I doubt the excerpt applies to Demian, when was the last time it made waves in the media, or even in your social circle?

I liked it. Probably my favourite by Hesse,
If you like Hesse youll like this. Its great.
Currently rereading Demian after reading Siddhartha, Der Dichter, and Kinderseele. Can Hesse's worldview be put simply? He's a little romantic, definitely steeped in a Christian view of things, yet at the same time his characters are above it all. His philosophy seems quite simple, extremely binary, but at the same time it acts as though it's trying to shatter the very idea of dualism. Does that make sense?

Synopsis, skimming, the author's logic, other people.
