>>8372325
You sound extremely defensive. Like someone who is currently being catfished by one of these profiles and knows it deep down but doesn't want to admit it
>>8372330
Look at this board. Seriously, take a minute and actually look at it. The majority of threads made are by frogposters. I don't think I'm going out on a limb by saying these are definitely males. After that you have the philosophy crew and religion fags. Some females sprinkled in here but certainly not many. Then you have Marx posters, Zizek posters, DFW posters, etc. Again, all of these are primarily males (and usually a very small group of people just reposting the same shit over and over). All thats left is some spoonme rec threads and maybe 5 or so random threads not related to any of the above. Thats /lit/
In goodreads threads the ratio is 1:1, so either we have males pretending to be females for attention which is done on literally every other 4chan board, or we're just going to sit and here and pretend that half of the people in the above threads are female which is ridiculous if you've ever actually been in them. Girls don't shitpost like males do, it's pretty easy to spot the difference

hello lads
https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/47415218-john-conquest
Alas, your eyes grew dim,
but for my reflection in dark pools,
and all I felt was the revelation
we were both dead.
And that everything dies,
no matter how old or young.
Nowhere do we belong,
but in a dream that lingers
on a sunny afternoon, in a song.
&
There is a hushing on the grass,
soft and warm its caress
to me, not a care. I do not wish for more
just to sleep beneath the sand and the shore
I’m cannot stand, so let me lie
I do not ask for anything, dead-tired am I,
I bare my body, long for the seabed
I have come undone, arms far spread
A lonely soul might search the strand,
far from life and far from land
but I already sleep and all alone,
in my dreams there is my home.

It's extremely funny to see all the Übermensch of /lit/ in Goodreads. I don't despise the image of a feeble person, but it certainly doesn't correlate with the image Anon tries to project.
Anon is way kinder when Anon posts its Goodreads profile.
>>8377016
What if, unlike you, we don't care so much about projecting an image and achieving a so-called patrician status noone cares about but are merely here to see what /lit/ enjoys reading, read reviews from other anons and possibly exchange about the books we love?
Get off your high horse, kid
>>8377016

Kill you are self
Sorry to hijack, but I wanted to ask a question and it didn't deserve its own thread, thought this might be a good place to put it. How would you rate a girl based on the following book choices? I matched with a literature graduate on Tinder, and these are the books she has pictures of on her Instagram. /lit/ or not?
>The Unbearable Lightness of Being
>Lolita
>His Dark Materials
>Smoke and Mirrors
>The Ocean at the End of the Lane
>The World's Wife
>Slaughterhouse 5
>Cloud Atlas
>Lord of the Rings
>>8377762
For someone who studied literature, it's a stunningly generic high school taste.
But, you won't be fucking Kundera and Vonnegut. She isn't bad, it's good, especially for a woman.
>>8377762
Props for Kundera, even though it's very easy to like Kundera and is in no way a good indicator of good taste.
Meh for the rest
>>8377762
The only 3 books I'd consider reading there are Lolita (entry level as fuck), Slaughterhouse 5 (suburban rebelzzz tier) and Unbearable Light ("I'm white and eat hummus in my designer sweatpants" tier)

>>8377793
>>8377797
>>8377800
Yeah I wasn't expecting full patrician, the people I knew who studied literature at my university had an even worse taste than that, I was more well-read than them and I'm a long way from being /lit/ myself. It's just rare to find people who read at all nowadays, much less a qt girl who's actually passionate about it. That said, I messaged her yesterday but she's not replied yet, so it looks like nothing will come of it anyway.
I don't have too many books, people gonna laught of me.........
>>8377821
Once a girl messaged me about books on Tinder. She studies English and literature. She was cute. But she was a fucking Seth MacFarlane fan.
Fucking liberals.
>>8377835
I think it's pretty much a given that 99.9% of those studying arts/humanities at university are going to be liberal. Probably 100% for the girls. I personally just wouldn't talk about politics with a girl, it could only end badly if you started to get passionate and reveal any right-wing opinion.
>>8377843
I didn't initiate it and I honestly wasn't looking for a pointless fuck.
I don't sperg out my political opinions, but there's always a limit on how much nonsense I can listen to before I reveal my power level.

>>8378289
I'm American and let me tell you: about .0001% of our liberals are actually left. Our politics and religion (arts, too, if you look at the # of wannabe actors here) amounts to: "When do I get to be rich and famous??"

You get "human rights".
You get gramsci style cultural hegemony at their college they accept so you can her unironical opinions which state that everyone who doesn't support gay marriage wants to massacre them or that you are a good or a bad person based on your political opinions (heard these two pearls 2 weeks ago).
You get "human rights".
Basically the emotivism of MacIntyre, but dumber because we didn't have a liberal/progressive tradition at all up until 20 years ago, meaning they couldn't give you one recommendation on why they think what they do, outside phrases repeated over and over again.
