Just finished this up.
Any books with a similar adventure vibe?

Don Quixote, 3 Musketeers, Robert Luis Stevenson books are pretty good for a few adventures... Orlando Furioso.. It's hard to find adventures quite like Dumas, but there's a shitload of Dumas himself out there, so you might be able to enjoy more of him. 3 musketeers isn't quite as good, but it's still a great adventure story.

But isn't a lot of that actually written by others? An apprentices workshop or some shit. At least the Musketeer sequels aren't his.

The Stars My Destination by Alfred Bester is like a Sci-Fi version of this.

it's said it's ghostwritten. I dunno. anyway, dumas was the first classic i ever read, and i remember looking for quite some time for anything like him, but it's quite hard to find, though stevenson seems to be catered for a more young crowd, it's still pretty damn good. If you haven't read it though, Moby Dick is the next step, really. It's not nearly as exciting, but it pushed me forward just like The Count did, if pressed, looking at my list, all i can see is Scaramouche. not much adventure that doesn't become a variant of the picaresque episodic adventure, and that's not nearly the same as Dumas' grand plans.
The Long Ships!

Bester is criminally underrated. The Stars My Destination is probably the best science fiction novel I've read, and it hasn't aged nearly as badly as most sci-fi from the 50s.
