Hi /lit/. What are some of your favorite books you read as a kid?
Unfortunate Events
these books were 10/10, like a more childish hitchiker's guide to the galaxy with elements of metafiction and a comic book style
We read the first one of these in English class and I read the rest of them. Pretty fun reads.
There is a scene in I think the climax of the first book that I've seen multiple movies rip off, not sure if it originated in this book or another, but it'swhere a tripod picks up a character who then throws a grenade into its "mouth" or hole or whatever.
The exact same thing happens in a War of the Worlds adaptation and in 10 Cloverfield Lane. Maybe it originated in the War of the Worlds novel?
I remember in middle school kids would talk about The Pig Man with reverence. My class never had to read it. How is it?
Also The Chocolate War, what about that?
I was always attracted to the Ringer as a kid cause it looked so much grimmer than anything else... I don't think it was all that interesting.

I enjoyed the Wayside book, but I don't remember much about it besides there was a potato tattoo.
This was my favorite book in middle school. I rarely read books, but I saw it in the school library and the cover looked cool, so I checked it out.
Also really enjoyed the Broken Sky series by Christ Wooding.
