Wow! The goodreads group requests were much more than I expected (11). We are still looking for members and welcome all applicants at: https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/195303-lit-club
This time lets work on finding a place to chat and figure out more about group readings -- which is a subject I brought up last time, and I hope that we make progress in this thread.
Awesome as always,
Alice
What is it you want to achieve with this group?
Random book discussions or group readings?
Just how many more /lit/ groups do you guys want to make?

I just want one that's alive and I have friends from old ones that want to come back.

I'm down.
>>8356207
I joined, just have to be accepted. Excuse me if I am a huge pleb, I just started getting into books this year and I haven't read much due to being busy.
when are you guys doing Infinite Jest?
I just asked for approval to join. Trying out this whole Goodreads thing for the first time since making an account maybe a year ago.
Master pleb here coming through. I'll probably join too, hopefully that way I can stay focused on one book
what are you reading
dunno yet. what do you want to read?
anybody here interesting in helping on the non-goodreads site for our club.
anyone know where i can free ssh shells?
>>8358696
going through sdf, going to set up forums and a mailing list.
anyone here know about implementing goodreads ratings into bbs forums, im sure theres an api but
created a link button while i wait till morning so i can pay for the server.
>>8358932
because I feel like it
>>8358934
Fair enough, sounds ambitious though seeing how active this group will likely be. Surely the goodreads functions would be fine as they are
>>8358943
yeah but I just like doing projects
I'll join, but this really isn't going to go anywhere.
>>8358948
Props to you then
Looking forward to us agreeing to a group reading soon
Where would the group reading conversations take place? Is it a meme book club? Will >we read pomo?
>>8356207
I'm on the Goodreads app and I can't find a join button. What do.
>>8359000
nice digits my friend
Wait until you have access to a laptop, the group ain't that active atm anyway
Will this actually lead anywhere ? I don't want to join if it doesn't tbqh.
I sent in the payment for the server so I can set up a proper webpage for this. Should we start a chat?
>>8360507
It would be nice if it did
>>8359000
nice trips
>>8358982
We will read books and talk about books, the books will be decided by the club and not just by one person so we don't just read >porno
>>8360507
Prob not, throughout my time here i've been in goodreads clubs, steam clubs, clubs that used threads, even one that had a sticky. To be honest, there was ran by some very dedicated guy that was focused on reading the Western canon, he also had a language learning club for Greek at the same time. This one was pretty good. All others were lacking in discussion.

>To be honest, there was ran by some very dedicated guy that was focused on reading the Western canon, he also had a language learning club for Greek at the same time
Even that died very quickly though and even those threads had little discussion either.
Why not just use something like discord to talk?
>>8361059
Would you like there to be a discord?
When will we start group readings?
Fuck off Dell
Why does this guy read so many shit book?
Also, Andy has fucking terrible taste. He gives three stars to absolute GOATs and 5 stars to fucking Pynchon and Nabokov.

that picture should answer your question
>>8362408
What the fuck OP, I requested to join yesterday and I have yet to be admitted to the prestigious /lit/ club.
>>8363537
It seems they aren't letting anyone in anymore. They've had the same amount of members since yesterday.
>>8362819
My average rating is 3.22.
Since three starts means 'I like it' I wouldn't say I read shit books. Most of them are enjoyable, but I didn't love them.
If you average rating is above 4, you probably are new to reading...
>>8364159
I put zero stake in starred reviews even my own.
If you think your 1 through 5 star judgments are worthy of mention, you're a pleb.
>>8364248
You're not making much sense. Last post you were insuting him because of his ratings.
There's already a /lit/ discord

>If you think your 1 through 5 star judgments are worthy of mention, you're a pleb.
They are, unless you have illiterate friends.
I have added people with similar interests to gr, and we often coincide in many ratings. I find this useful to find new books to read using others gr accounts, looking for 5-star books of people who share my interests.
>>8364268
Ya, I don't see how that's relevant.
>>8364285
woah calm down man
>>8364258
I'm not the samefag, this is my first post itt. Why make these assumptions?
>>8364273
I mean I partially agree, but when you get to the point where "I don't take people with an average review score of 3.6 or above seriously" or infer other like judgments from an arithmetic average you may very well have gleaned nothing from books since you're evaluating people on so such shallow bases.
"Oh cool so you like Gravity's Rainbow" is entirely different.
I hate the /lit/ club. If I want to see pretentious shit about babby's first how-to-look-intelligent literature I come here.

>I am adept at the English language
>the mod has read only 1 book this year
Honestly this is what I expected.
>>8366706
I just made the account in june and have barely updated it since, the og point of the club is to get me to update my goodreads more
Don't know if this is the right thread to ask a random question, but hope you will help /fit/ guy.
Girlfriend loves Dostoyevsky - says that she likes analysis of human nature (she is a psychology graduate). Got her Hunger by Knut and she also enjoyed it.
Question: books similar to Dostoyevsky, Knut?
Thank you.
>>8367143
Give her more Knut. Drop the brothers K, I'll give mine to her.
>>8367146
>>8367143
She has read all (probably) Dostoyevsky and most of the Russians.
I am looking for new authors.
>>8367168
i was just telling you i'll cum on her if you want.
Have her read the rest of Hamsun, especially Growth of the Soil. Maybe ship her Beckett and Bernhard as a start.
>>8367143
Stendhal
>>8367197
If we're going this horribly misguided direction, Henry James too.
Hi I'm Niko and I'm an alcoholic.
>>8362819
The bigger question is, why do most people have like 100~ books read at most? I thought i was with fellow patricians here.
