Addendum; his last thoughts are regret that he never got to send his sister (who pretty much convinced his parents that he "was no longer in there" herself) to the Conservatory to become a professional pianist.
His death is, I think, best likened to that of a dog which loves it's master even as it wastes away from neglect; still waiting for the door to open and to see their face again, even unto death.
