He's a good pulp writer. I enjoyed The Great Train Robbery when I was younger.

I liked him in middle school / early high school. In fact he is literally the only author I read back then. I like how believable the science is to a layman. Timeline was great. Andromeda Strain was spooky and great. Jurassic Park is a classic. If I were trying to get someone into reading I would probably recommend Crichton.
