Amusing, somewhat sad, and maybe even touching at first but consistently less readable with each successive book of his that one gets through. An author to be read sparingly and intermittently if at all because his charm wears thin far too quickly.

I've heard good things about Mother Night just about every time it's been mentioned, so probably that.

These and God Bless You Mr. Rosewater
He's delightful. The writing is uninhibited but makes no needless pretensions. Characters are hilariously eccentric or wryly sedate. His stories deal with the anxieties of modern society and its potential for self destruction.
I started with Vonnegut, read all his novels, during my patrician phase gave them to my little brother, some time passed, and now I don't care anymore. I'm getting them back.
How nice--to feel nothing and still get full credit for being alive.
is he the most reddit author ever?
Like Heller, blew his load early. Good writer, funny guy, not many ideas.
