I've read tons of books but for whatever reason, I'm having a hard time reading this one. He seems to love using commas and the narration jumps around a lot. Anyone else have this problem or am I just retarded?
what else do you read?

There's a reason Pynchon is considered difficult, or at the very least needs to be eased into. Welcome to literature.

TCoL49 is just about as straight forward and accessible as my good friend Tommy gets. There's likely countless guides online to help you through the parts that give you the greatest difficulties.
My advice would be to read it for the zany situations, the tone of the narrator's voice, and the cheap humour. Don't try to figure out the conspiracy the first time through. Then, since it's short, start it again immediately and it'll make much more sense. I think it's well worth it and gives a disproportionately high degree of pleasure for its size and the investment it requires from you.
