I'll be re-reading a lot in the coming months now that I've got a solid foundation with the classics.

Why the fuck are you using a picture of David fincher
>>
I have read Blood Meridian atleast 30 times

because he advocates against rewatching films

I'll reread a book after a couple of years if I think I'll get something out of it that I didn't the first time, for whatever reason. sometimes I just reread because it's a comfy book I know I'll enjoy. I'm rereading my way through Raymond Chandler atm.
>>
if you don't re-read you're a pleb/pseud/dilettante
>>
yes i reread, i reread everything good many times. i cannot imagine only reading a good book once

I've never re-read anything but I literally just started re-reading Animal Farm today.

Ata boy

I have so yearly re-reads (Shakespeare, Homer, Faulkner), and some books I'll read portions of at least quarterly (Moby Dick, Don Quixote, Gargantua and Pantagruel, Wittgenstein, Nietzsche); but, I plan on re-reading a lot more in the coming year. Usually what happens nowadays is that I'll either get started on a book, or speed read/half ass read a book for my major, and then submit to the rigors of my course work and let the book slip away from priority. Then, I'll put it away and come back whenever I have the free time, restart, and binge read the book. Overall, it's been effective, but like anon, with my solid foundation in Western lit from ancient to present, I want to go back and do better, more secondary source guided readings.

Favorites, twice a year about. I'll be rereading far more in 5 years when I've explored the canon to the fullest extent.

I don't believe you

I re-read everything. It's the only way I can retain anything. I am amazed at people who can remember something verbatim after a first reading.

OP is exaggerating. In a DVD commentary Fincher says he is against people rewatching films to nitpick the film or critic it. I think he's talking more about critics rating a film they've seen 5 times than doing it for pleasure because they enjoy it.
>>
>it's a D. Fincher tricking Rooney Mara into drop coffee over some clueless extra episode
