How can literature recover from this
>>8297958
because you're not an oldfag (newfag)
Sounds like the premise of a maniac. What was his problem?
>>8297961
did he mean the paki prank call about kicking a dog from like the year 2000? if he did that wasn't funny
>>8297977
Oh god was that shit not funny
>>8297944
Because everything he wrote triggers semiliterate middlebrow readers who wouldn't know what literature was if you bashed them over the head with a copy of The Recognitions.
has anyone read this brosef?
haven't read 'travesty' but short answer is because he hard
His short stories are good (except Charivari, holy fuck that was a slog), the novels are hit & miss
>>8299138
this book isn't hard at all dawg
>>8299108
I have. I can see someone being miffed about the price being too high given how short it is if they got a new copy, but it's a great novella if you're looking for something about total depravity.
>>8297944
I know that guy. He's a massive twat. He plays the contrarian while still being PC enough for the GR crowd. Ignore him.
>>8299200
Really? I've always told people to start with The Lime Twig but maybe Travesty would be better, then
>>8300775
Nah. Travesty is easier and shorter, but The Lime Twig is more characteristic of his style overall. Travesty can be read as a standalone, but it works better as the capstone piece to his "sex trilogy" (the first two are The Blood Orange+Death Sleep and the Traveler).
>>8300775
The Blood Oranges is probably the best start IMO
