I've been 150 pages into the Ciardi translation for a few months now, and the detail Dante put into his writing is amazing. He had a crazy detailed imagination. I'll be finishing it after I get through a few other books I'm in the process of reading. (I'm glad Ciardi included all the diagrams and footnotes to explain the mythology, etc., behind Dante's references. It helps a lot.)

Yeah it's a travesty. People just stop after DUDE PUNISHMENT LMAO and miss all the best stuff.

I remember getting to the end of Canto XXII in Paradiso for the first time and having to put the book down because I was so awestruck.

Paradiso is my favourite part, and one of my favourite works in general. I've read a bunch of translations of it and I'm thinking of learning Italian just to read it.
