Obviously haven't worked out all the details, very early concept.
Main protagonist (an educated yet kinda isolated, outcasted individual) who has language background and serves as a linguist is contracted by a foreign military to examine and decipher a manuscript or book written in a most Eldritch terrible language, which he has incredible trouble with, and which has driven many a man insane, until one day he seemingly cracks it's secrets, which leads him to a cult trying to summon a Great Old One (a la Cthulhu, Azathoth, Shub-Niggurath) and stops them, but in the end goes insane, but through this insanity and the knowledge gained from encountering the cult, he learns that ANOTHER Eldritch being had purposefully imparted false knowledge upon him so he would find the cult and stop them so this being could be more powerful than the other. This last bit could also be up for interpretation because at this point he's gone completely mad.
Thoughts and comments would be greatly appreciated.
