Why do the endings to books always suck?

Endings though. I used to read the last page of the book before reading the whole thing.

Gibson couldn't write for shit. the plot has no momentum and the descriptions are suicide-worthy. He did have amazing ideas though, but that doesn't mean it's a good book.

Bad endings are good endings (we're not in /jp/ at the moment, so...).
Bad in the sense of death, sadness, the system can't be fixed, the bad guy wins, etc. Compare it to Hollywood movies, those are almost every time bad/mediocre endings because the people need to leave the cinema with a smile in their faces.
Take, for example, cancer such as Disney, compared to any average book endings, the book always wins.
