Both or neither.

this

No.

I read Infinite Jest prior. IJ was my first maximalist read and it's arguably easier than 2666. They're also about completely different things.

I liked 2666 more overall, but IJ is great, too.

You should also start with something different if this is your first Bolano. I'd recommend The Return or Last Evenings on Earth if you like short stories, or Amulet if you prefer a novella. Or you can start with Savage Detectives, but that's a big novel as well. With Dave you can start pretty much anywhere.

I don't understand

I'm looking to read Ulysses in a classroom setting, desu.

2666 being good and IJ being a troll for those who do not read much and have difficulty forming their own opinions, IJ

Do you actually think you'll ever do that?

I'm halfway through a heavy Lit-related degree and havent even touched Joyce in a course yet
>>
>>8220438
my school had a course just about ulysses

[envy]

Granted the 10 Joyce supplements i own probably equate to a class on Ulysses

Just picked up a copy of IJ myself. Super excited to find out why I hate everyone who loves it.

I disagree, 2666, SD and Nazi Literature in the Americas are his top tier stuff and beginninn with his short stories is a bad idea since half of them are Kerouc tier shit. There are some good stuff in the rest of his work but no-one starts with Amulet and falls in love with Bolano...
>>

you don't deserve to read it.
