The reviewer gave me a 4/10, which is basically toilet-tier, even though it seemed like they liked parts of it. I've had really positive feedback up to now, and don't think any less of my own stuff - but I don't know, feel like a dumb ass.
Anybody else get bad reviews on their first shit? Feel like I've been punched in the gut and know I'm being a pussy but can't help it.
Who has stories of first-work reviews?

Did they give specific details about what they didn't like?
Who gives a fuck about reviews for anything?
90% of the people that review shit just want to trash things and are functionally retarded.

good
don't steel yourself
let people's dislike affect you as motivtion, but only to work harder

They thought parts of the plot were confusing (no one else has had difficulty with it) and pointed out that I didn't flesh a character out well enough (the character isn't even a supporting character, possibly not even third-tier), so the reviewer may have just been a retard. But still - I want retards to like it too.

I got a 1 star review on goodreads from some Scandinavian dude who couldn't finish my book.
4/10 is far from toilet-tier m8
especially for first-work reviews.
Publishers receive hundreds of worse-than-fanfiction tier shit every day, receiving any feedback is pretty huge.

You can't please everyone, but whether or not you should be hurt, depends on the kind of feedback you got.
If it's "shit sux kill urself faget", it doesn't matter.
If they gave reasonable feedback, pointed out things that you should be embarrassed about, and made you feel like an idiot, well, the world is not a hugbox. It's sometimes hard to accept your faults and improve, but most people will always be indifferent on your work - bad reviews should be appreciated also, since someone went through your work with enough detail to point out what sucked.

This makes the review itself seem bad tho.
>tfw people levy critiques against your style because they don't get it ir aren't okay with anything less than sleek
