Has anyone every noticed the parallels between Ignatius from Confederacy of Dunces and Karl Marx?
Ignatius:
>doesn't work
>complains about his valve every day, to everyone
>fat
>slovenly
>leeches off his family and only friend, Myrna
>tries and fails to incite revolution
>despises everyone who hasn't entertained philosophy
>does nothing productive but write, but neglects publication for the most part
Marx:
>doesn't work
>complains about his carbuncles every day, to everyone
>fat
>slovenly
>leeches off his family and only friend, Engels
>tries and fails to incite revolution
>despises everyone who hasn't entertained philosophy
>does nothing productive but write, but neglects publication for the most part
Am I drawing an apt comparison? Has anyone else come to the same idea?

I never saw the parallel between the two fatasses, who are also both students of history, and I don't know if Ignatius was meant to be a caricature of Marx but yeah, they do have some stuff in common.

I know lots of people who are just like Ignatius.
It's a common human archetype.

It's just way too close to not be a caricature. It reads like a comedy of Marx's life

you're reaching for the most part, being very selective, ignoring the context of the book, marrying common arbitrary details, and basically just being an ideologist. congrats.

Not really your understand of Marx's life and activities is rather poor. Take a look over the wikipedia page at least and then reconsider.
