Any good nuclear attack survival books anyone can recommend? Something really realistic that focuses mainly on the attack itself and not the aftermath.

And I also don't mean anything like a guide. I'm looking for fiction.

The aftermath is the story though, so you're not going to avoid that. Swan Song.

I guess what I'm looking for is mostly just a hyper detailed account of a fictional nuclear strike.

End of Days by Robert Gleason is a very realistic look at how nuclear war with Russia could happen.

The Sum of All Fears by Tom Clancy has like 3 pages explaining exactly how an atomic bomb works in the milliseconds after it explodes.

But you're not going to find many books that focus on the attack itself. The attack is the turning point in a pre/post-apocalypse narrative, so ending a book there would make it feel really lopsided.

End of Days looks interesting. Thanks Anon

I would recommend Dr. Bloodmoney by Philip K. Dick but it has some paranoic and kind of surreal events. Its basically about a massive nuclear bombarding and its results.

Alas Babylon
My home city gets nuked halfway through by the way.

>Alas Babylon
Wow, now THIS is what i'm talking about. Thanks!

There's a bunch of weird subplots, like this Native American dream sequence and a rat that crosses the ocean in a freighter, but the core story is really solid.
