Buy a refurbished amazon Kindle paperwhite, then download the program 'calibre' which is a book sorting library, then proceed to use libgen.io and scihub to collect all your books and journals, add them onto calibre, then send them to conversion to your kindle.

Libraries in my city are awful. The entire place is shelves half-full of 20 year old genre fiction and bestsellers. They still have a VHS section. Nobody goes there for books, it's just an air-conditioning refuge for homeless people and welfare bums in the summer.

The university library is better but it's pretty dated and they don't have very much fiction in there either.
