My idea is very, very well fleshed out but it involves following the basic plot of a piece of literature. I've started writing 20 pages, but this bothers me. How do I not shit on it? I'm thinking about reading pic related to give me an idea of it.
Just shit on it.
First drafts will always be shit. Just write whatever the fuck you want and then re-edit/re-write when you're done.

Joyce did Homer on a whim.
I'd say your problem is that your idea is very, very well fleshed out. What you think about when not actually writing is usually worthless. Give yourself space to create, make adjustments as you go based on what (so far) lives on the page instead of some outline or grand ideal you have.

This idea is very new to me though.

Thanks for your advice, though in a way the book I'm referencing's plotline is the basic outline. I guess I can put other interesting ideas in there which come to me when I write.
What plot are you following? Genuinely curious.
