Recommend me some great essayists.

I really like Patanjali, Seneca, Schopenhauer, and, for newer writers, Theodore Dalrymple.

They each write brilliantly.

I've also recently enjoyed some Emerson and On the Gradual Construction of Thoughts during Speech by Heinrich von Kleist
My philosophical worldview is immensly practical; my political worldview is (thoroughly) conservative.

Emerson is fantastic, probably the only American essayist who surpasses Wallace.

Thomas Carlye influenced Emerson. Maybe check him out.

Woolf, Bacon, Montainge, Chesterton, Orwell, Twain.

De Maistre. There's nothing above or beyond him.

cicero, chesterton, mencken, hitchens, herbert (polish), voltaire

there's many more, but these are the essayists i've taken the most from. after taking two british literature courses, i've fingered through essays by eliot and pound, and wow, what a pleasure. it will only be rewarding if you're familiar with poetry/greek/roman/british literature

Darlymple is doing great work, I can't think of anyone alive who can help people understand and dismiss current progressive political forces so elegantly.

You might like Max Weber although he is very dry. And if you like Schopenhauer then you will love Pessoa.

Indeed, I cannot even think of one great, modern conservative appraiser I love reading like him. Feel free to let me know, if you do. Phenomenal penmanship too

You can try Unabomber, moldbug and "the last psychiatrist" for explaining modern leftism - interesting but with a laser focus on the upper-middle class problems.

Montaigne coined the term. His essays are unparalleled. First guy to write an essay about how small his penis was.

Plutarch's Essays were really popular amongst the founding fathers of the US - inspired Benjamin Franklin, who also wrote worthwhile essays.

Kierkegaard's essays are criminally underrated.

Kenko's Tsurezuregusa is amazing.

The essays of Erwin Schrodinger are also very good. Humanists don't read them because he was a scientist. Scientists don't read them because they don't read books.

Chesterton
