Don't be so naive. Prose is divided as a word into general vernacular and academia, same way with the word "unconscious," which in general just means "unaware," while in psychology it is a "level of consciousness." "Style" has many different connotations, but "prose" seems to narrow a certain element that isn't just "hey I'm fuckin fancy." In prose there's a certain, at least the way I see it (and I may be complete wrong, I'll admit), equation of words, just the right kind of brushwork of composition. And I feel like different authors have their own "equation" but all the good ones have a certain equation in composition in common. Call me a pleb or retard or whatever, but there's definitely something there.
