Why does the nurse have feathers? Why is the patient a cat? Who actually finds something as vapid and simply emotionally manipulative as this actually sad? It's just banal

I am really curious about why the people being half-animal adds anything to this. And why is the doctor fully human? Please, tell me.

animals are cute? Why is Zoophalie and many others a hit movie?
>>
>>7907547
Isn't there something worrisome about the idea that humans care more about mythical meldings of humans and animals than just normal humans? That cuteness so heavily factors in to sadness? The tragedy of this comic is that the subject is attractive, rather than the combination of her youth and death, on that basis. The fact that she has cat ears just makes us sad naturally, rather than the calculated effort it would take to factor in her awareness of her own death along with her loss of enjoyment leading up to it. We somehow need to be pandered to to feel sad.
>>
>>7907570
It would've been also sad if it was just a normal little girl in the comic, buddy.
>>
>>7907575
Ah, but it wasn't. It was a mix catgirl, the author chose to do that. That made it sadder. What if it had been an ugly dismorphic boy? Or a warped old man? Then we feel guilt, and try to ignore it and avoid it.

If she was LITERALLY a cat-girl hybrid, that makes her a genetic freak - hence worthy of euthanasia regardless.

Humans with animal attributes short circuit the normal emotional reactions, bypassing the callousness built up through years of living.

The subject is not identified by my subconcious as human.
Of necessity, my empathy for humans is automatically damped. I can experience sympathetic emotion by choice or if caught off guard.
>>
>>7907398

Fuck...
>>
>>7907778
See this is an interesting conversation. Do you think our reactions to humans are the same? Analoguous in the sense of how callous we are to our experience with them? Like the reason old people dying in fact isn't sad is because it isn't rare like the death of a child?
>>
>>7907509
My first thought was that they were trying to make anime catgirls real but failed.

My cat just dies in the 7th. It completely shattered my heart. But something like this makes me realize I'm not the only one who's had that deep pain to. It makes me remeber that I am not the only sad one in the world.

>Do you think our reactions to humans are the same? Analoguous in the sense of how callous we are to our experience with them?
>Like the reason old people dying in fact isn't sad is because it isn't rare like the death of a child?
Rareness in the sense that you are prepared for it. The same emotions exist, but experience with the trigger causes suppression of same. Do you recall the first time you fully comprehended the death of an old person? The emotional response should have been just as profound then as it is now with a child's death. This unconscious suppression mirrors that undertaken consciously. We recognize that empathetic response often obscures right action and in such cases must be repressed. This is illustrated in a biblical passage that includes "The poor will always be with us". Though empathy is an important social tool, overuse dulls its efficacy and your reasoning ability.
>>
In addition, I would theorize that the furry phenomenon has its roots in the suppression of sexual expression. Even as this repression may be unconscious to the individual, it is bypassed by the animal, and therefore inhuman, attributes in the subject.

That's not true anon, stay positive. The same day my cat passed away this old woman, whom I have tea with weekly, her cat died too. That cat was 24 years old and still getting around and happy as could be.

Cats are the greatest pets, but when you love something you have to know it'll hurt eventually. That's just part of the bargain.

To A Cat, Jorge Lous Borges.

Mirrors are not more silent
nor the creeping dawn more secretive;
in the moonlight, you are that panther
we catch sight of from afar.
By the inexplicable workings of a divine law,
we look for you in vain;
More remote, even, than the Ganges or the setting sun,
yours is the solitude, yours the secret.
Your haunch allows the lingering
caress of my hand. You have accepted,
since that long forgotten past,
the love of the distrustful hand.
You belong to another time. You are lord
of a place bounded like a dream.

I like this thought process, anon.

I and Pangur Ban my cat,
'Tis a like task we are at:
Hunting mice is his delight,
Hunting words I sit all night.

Better far than praise of men
'Tis to sit with book and pen;
Pangur bears me no ill-will,
He too plies his simple skill.

'Tis a merry task to see
At our tasks how glad are we,
When at home we sit and find
Entertainment to our mind.

Oftentimes a mouse will stray
In the hero Pangur's way;
Oftentimes my keen thought set
Takes a meaning in its net.

'Gainst the wall he sets his eye
Full and fierce and sharp and sly;
'Gainst the wall of knowledge I
All my little wisdom try.

When a mouse darts from its den,
O how glad is Pangur then!
O what gladness do I prove
When I solve the doubts I love!

So in peace our task we ply,
Pangur Ban, my cat, and I;
In our arts we find our bliss,
I have mine and he has his.

Practice every day has made
Pangur perfect in his trade;
I get wisdom day and night
Turning darkness into light.
