>Hey there, not OP here, just checking in to tell you you're a pleb
I listen to music when I want to listen to music and I read when I want to read.
Mixing the two is distracting towards both reading and listening.
All this imo
Sometimes I listen to Bar by Sachiko M when I'm in loud places, or HNW type stuff. Whether or not that's "music" is debatable, I guess, but it helps to block out background distractions.

Good album
I listen to the fan in my room
I have to since I have tinnitus. I actually enjoy reading in places where the noise level is high. I mainly listen to ambient noise. Before T it was the opposite and I enjoyed reading in silence.
drone on full blast to drown out the inescapable sounds of the television

why Bar doe? i really don't get that release.
i wear earplugs when i'm reading
I listen to instrumental music while reading, or music in other languages. Typically psychedelic or drone type metal, sometimes jazz or classical.

Nice. You should give Sean McCann, En, and John Davis a try. Maybe Ryosuke Miyata as well.
>>7723542
We would probably get along very well.
>>7723542
i found pisaro to be perfect for reading.
Pairing music with specific a book/genre requires a /lit/ chart.
>>7721841
I listen to relaxing jazz, the only problem is with books that have action (like battles and such), it can totally ruin the mood

>Field Rotation
Then you'll like Christoph Berg - it's the same guy, without electronic music, focused on neo-classical. His album Paraphrases is wonderful. You'll probably like Aaron Martin as well if you like Christoph Berg, he is similar and Christoph made a split album with him: http://dronarivm.bandcamp.com/album/day-has-ended
And Antonymes: https://antonymes.bandcamp.com/album/there-can-be-no-true-beauty-without-decay
>Celer, Hakobune, Andrew Chalk
Yes, I know and like them all but I'm not THAT into them yet. Which albums would you recommend? Maybe it will change that way.
The first two albums of En (http://ennnnnnn.bandcamp.com/album/the-absent-coast and http://ennnnnnn.bandcamp.com/album/already-gone) and John Davis - Ask the Dust (https://vimeo.com/125255469 it will probably take a while before you're really into it, but it's worth your time investment) are my favourites. Literally can't get enough of them.
>>7726046
Also I'm anxious to hear what you think of the video of Ask the Dust.
>>7726046
Know of all these guys besides Antonymes. Will look into his music.
Ask the Dust is an album I quite like as well. I think you mentioned Sean McCann as well. What are your favorites from him? I really love Sincere World (especially the expanded edition with the track 'Devotion') and Fountains.
For Celer/Hakobune/Chalk, I'll link my favorites.

I'll make sure to come back later and share with you an image with my favorite artists, considering we have quite a handful of artists we both like. I'm not solely focused on ambient, but when you do find an ambient artist in the image I'll share you should check it out.

/mu/ drone that tries too hard, what a surprise

back
sorry for not sorting between the ambient and ambient albums, it's just that i'm too lazy to do that sort of thing right now
no, never. it often ruins my concentration, and usually casts a false tone or mood over what I'm reading, which causes me to lay false emphasis on some details over others, possibly leading to a misreading
I don't know why you guys listen to music while reading but if you have an RYM post and I (and im sure others) will add you
>>7726932
Don't have a topsters, and you have a superiority complex (As evident by calling me a "duder" for calling you out) to where anything I say will be associated as being "dumb" and will further go to feeding your ego. Sorry.
>>7726941
did some avant-teen take a shit on your cereal? he's just asking for you to post your taste, not post a topsters
When i read outside i have to wear headphones. Every kind of music is ok, from blues to rap, as long as it is at low volume. If you are reading whitout headphones everyone could try to contact you. Wearing a visibile pair of headphones allows you ti avoid preatty much every human contact
>>7726941
Sorry, didn't make clear that I'm not even the guy who posted their chart.
I'm just curious of your taste. No need to post a chart, just list a few artists.

please don't tell me Hecker is becoming a meme. I've been a fan for years and this kills me to see.
>>7727194
i've been a fan for a year but i've listened to nearly all of his releases and my favorites are Mirages and radio amor
am i cancer? are you cancer?
Why is this even a thread?
>>7727194
How can he possibly become a meme? Unless he starts spouting retarded shit and or tries to become a celebrity of some sorts he'll just remain a relatively popular musician doing his thing
Hahahahaha this thread
How the fuck can you listen to music while reading? I have tried with almost every kind of music and is just pitiful
>>7727282
Hahahahaha I just do it bro
fuck off /mu/ none of you read.
>>7727328
I sometimes read but not often usually no more than 2- 3 books a month
>>7727349
mounts to 20-35 books a year
not bad desu
